Ready to add straight to Home
These work with Apple Home on their own and aren't in your home yet. No maker's app or account is needed, and the helper isn't either.
| Device | Maker | Model |
|---|---|---|
| Smart Plug 3C1A | Eve | Energy |
- On an iPhone on your home Wi-Fi, open the Home app, tap +, then Add Accessory.
- Scan the setup code on the device. It's on a label on the device, its box or its manual; on a wall switch it's often on the switch itself, behind the wall plate.
- If Home can't find it, tap More options; it should be in the list by the name above.
A device that already works keeps working while you do this, and nothing is reset. If the code is lost, its maker's support can say where else it's printed.
Make a virtual device
A switch or outlet of the helper's own, with no physical device, for your automations.
Virtual switch or outlet
A switch or outlet with no physical device, for Home automations. Optionally turn it off after a delay. It keeps its on or off when the helper restarts, and a delay carries on where it left off. It never runs a schedule or controls hardware itself.
Add a device
Link a maker's account to add its devices to Home, or set up a new camera without its maker's app.
Reolink camera
Set up a new Reolink camera without the Reolink app and show it in Apple Home: the helper gives it a password and your Wi-Fi, then shows its live video and pictures as a camera in Home.
Only for a camera fresh from the box, or one reset with its reset button. A camera that already has a password is left alone. Doing it again on a camera this set up only gives it the Wi-Fi again.
Moen Flo
Smart Water Shutoffs and Water Detectors: leaks, water temperature, and the shutoff valve in the Home app. Use the email and password of the Moen Flo app.
Ring
Cameras and doorbells (live view, motion, rings and recordings in the Home app), lights, the alarm and its sensors, and chimes. Sign in with the email and password you use in the Ring app, then the code Ring sends you. Ring then gives the helper a sign-in of its own, so your password isn't kept.
SimpliSafe
SimpliSafe 3 alarms: arm and disarm from the Home app, with the entry, motion, smoke, carbon monoxide, water and temperature sensors and the smart lock.
Levoit (VeSync)
Levoit humidifiers: on and off, mist level and humidity in the Home app. Use the email and password of the VeSync app.
Rain Bird
A sprinkler controller with a LNK WiFi module: each zone as a valve in the Home app, to water and to see what's watering.
Broadlink
Broadlink RM remotes in the Home app as switches that send the codes you teach them, on your home network without the Broadlink cloud. Teach codes with zoxobit-server broadlink learn.
Denon or Marantz receiver
An AV receiver as a TV in the Home app: on and off, the input, volume and mute. Type the receiver's IP address, shown in its Setup menu under Network.
Dyson fan
A Dyson Pure Cool or Hot+Cool as an air purifier in the Home app: on and off, speed, swing and auto, with its air quality, temperature and humidity. The Wi-Fi name and password are on the sticker on the fan and on the back of its manual.
Enphase solar
Your solar panels in the Home app: how many watts they make and the home uses, as light sensors, and a contact that's open while they make power. Type the IQ Gateway's (Envoy's) IP address; newer gateways also need your Enlighten email and password.
Google Nest
Google Nest thermostats: a thermostat in the Home app with its mode, set temperature, room temperature and humidity. Uses your own Google Device Access project; the helper's Nest guide shows how to get the four values below.
Govee light
Govee lights in the Home app: on and off, brightness and colour. First turn on LAN control for each light in the Govee app. The helper finds them on its own; type an IP address only if it doesn't.
Hatch
Hatch Rest+ and Rest 2nd gen sound machines in the Home app: the Rest+ light with brightness and colour, its sound and volume, and the Rest 2nd gen's favourite on and off. Use the email and password of the Hatch app.
LG TV
An LG webOS TV in the Home app: on and off, inputs, volume and the remote. The TV asks once to allow the helper.
Logitech Harmony Hub
Each Harmony activity as a switch in the Home app. Turning one on starts it, turning it off turns everything off. Type the hub's IP address, shown in the Harmony app under Settings, Harmony Setup, Add & Edit Devices & Activities, Hub, Network Settings.
Meross
Meross smart plugs and power strips: an outlet in the Home app for each socket. Signs in to your Meross account once to get the plug's key, then talks to the plug on your home network only. Add each plug by its IP address.
Microsoft Xbox
Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles: turn one on from the Home app and see whether it's on. The console needs Sleep (instant-on) as its power mode, and turning it off stays on the console or its controller.
Midea air conditioner
A Midea air conditioner (or one sold under another name that uses the Midea app) as a heater and cooler in the Home app: on and off, heat, cool or auto, the temperature and fan speed. Leave the address empty to find them all. A newer unit also needs its token and key.
Mitsubishi Kumo Cloud
Mitsubishi heat pumps with a Kumo Cloud Wi-Fi adapter: on and off, heat, cool and auto, the temperatures and the fan in the Home app. Use the email and password of the Kumo Cloud app; after this the helper talks to the units on your network.
MQTT broker
Switches, outlets, lights and sensors that talk MQTT (Tasmota, Zigbee2MQTT, ESPHome and the like), through your own broker. Type the broker's address here, then add each thing with the zoxobit-server mqtt add-thing command.
ratgdo garage door
A ratgdo board with the ESPHome firmware as a garage door in the Home app: open, close, stop and obstructions, plus its light, remote lockout and motion sensor when it has them. Type the board's IP address. A ratgdo with its own HomeKit firmware pairs with the Home app directly instead.
Roborock
Roborock and Xiaomi robot vacuums: a switch in the Home app that starts cleaning or sends the vacuum home, with its battery and filter. Needs the vacuum's IP address and its token from the Mi Home or Roborock app.
Samsung TV
Samsung smart TVs from 2016 on: turn them on and off, change the volume and mute, and use the Home app's remote. Turn the TV on before adding it, and choose Allow when it asks.
Shelly
Shelly relays, plugs, dimmers and roller shutters on your home network, old and new (Plus and Pro): turn them on and off, dim them, and open and close covers.
Sonos
Each Sonos room in the Home app: a switch that plays and pauses, and a light for its volume and mute. Type any one speaker's IP address, shown in the Sonos app under Settings, System, About My System.
TP-Link Kasa
Kasa plugs, power strips, light switches and dimmers in the Home app, on your home network without the Kasa cloud.
UniFi Protect
Cameras and doorbells on a UniFi OS console: motion and doorbell rings in the Home app, no video. Use a local user made on the console, not your UI.com account.
Some devices, like Moen Flo, only talk to their maker's servers, so a scan of your network can't find them. Signing in finds every device on the account.
